KAMPAI

                                                                    KAMPAI
Neo-Prog
Germany

This is one of those few moments in which an obsessive researcher as myself feels frustrated writing biographies, being that KAMPAI info is so scarce, that despite the effort and placed in this work, the results will be far from what I expect. But it has to be done so here we go.

The band was formed in Duisburg Germany in 1991 by Andre André Teikhoff (vocals), Stefan Vennemann (guitar), Norbert Schröder (bass), Robert Köhler (keyboards), Dieter Spielkamp (drums).

During the next year the band toured with CHANDELIER and gained a name, but in 1992 Stefan Vennemann decides to leave the band and is replaced by Wolgang Döhr, with whom they release "Land of the Free" in 1993 (a 35:44 minutes demo) and one year later the second album "Phantasmagoria" sees the light.

The band influences are clear being very close to CAMEL and ELOY with a Peter Gabriel sounding vocalist, but the final result is pretty funny because Andre Teikhoff's strong accent makes very difficult to listen the album without a smile.

One of many good obscure bands from the 90's that few people remember, but who deserve a listen once in a while.
